Being able to go outside again or see friends is a lovely thought. While there are still some lockdown restrictions in place, now can be a great time to start exploring some new hobbies!
Many stores are opening up their doors for limited hours and still offer curbside service as well.
So, what are the new most loved hobbies amongst retirees now that they have a little more freedom? Here are the 3 new hobbies retirees love.
Are you looking forward to getting outside more? Many other retirees are eager as well! We highly recommend getting a mobility scooter if you don’t already have one. Not only will it give you the freedom to go out on your own, but it can also definitely help with our first hobby.
One of the top answers we heard from our group of retirees is getting out to view and appreciate nature. Many of them took up birdwatching and tracking while others just enjoyed walking or using their scooter to explore all of what nature has to offer.
While not everyone was interested in going out to explore nature, there were many who just wanted to get outside in their own yard! Gardening is making a comeback at the perfect time of year. Some of our retirees enjoyed planting flower gardens while others were content to go outside and water a couple of hanging plants each day. After a day of gardening, it’s always nice to relax in a warm bath or take a nice hot shower.
This might not be a “new” hobby for most. However, we found that many retirees we spoke to were happy to be able to sit outside somewhere, maybe in a café, and work on puzzles. It’s a great idea, too, as research has shown puzzles can help keep the mind sharp and active.
